In her role at BankFive, a community bank with locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Johnk leads all facets of human resources, including recruitment, performance management, talent development, employee engagement, and strategic succession planning. With more than 25 years of HR experience, including senior roles at CVS’s MinuteClinic and Care New England, she brings deep expertise in labor relations and organizational leadership.

Beyond her role at BankFive, Johnk is an active community leader in her home state of Rhode Island and beyond. She is a board member at United Way of Fall River, the Fall River Historical Society, and the Fall River Rotary, as well as an adjunct professor at Bristol Community College. Johnk has spearheaded initiatives that foster engagement, inclusion, and leadership development, including employee surveys, leadership book clubs, and a Working Parents Group. She also established several employee resource groups, such as the LGBTQ+ Alliance, Luso Group, and WE Can for disability communities. She has also led efforts in succession planning and performance management, ensuring BankFive remains responsive to the evolving needs of its workforce.
Earlier this year, Johnk was honored with the Massachusetts Bankers Association Women and Allies award, a testament to her impactful work in the banking community.
Established in 1915, the Rhode Island Bankers Association serves as the sole Rhode Island based organization serving the banking industry and advocates for its member institutions and participates alongside other New England Banking industry associations.
