With Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits set to expire on Nov. 1, the BankFive Foundation is donating $10,000 to 10 local food pantries across Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod, and Southern Rhode Island. The Foundation has long supported local soup kitchens and food pantries during the holiday season, and this early contribution will provide essential resources to organizations that serve as critical lifelines for individuals and families facing hardship in these communities.
“With many households facing significant reductions in their monthly food budgets, we’re proud that BankFive can help local organizations respond to the growing need. Together, we’re working to reduce hunger and support families across Southeastern Massachusetts,” said Anne P. Tangen, President and CEO of BankFive.
The foundation was established in 2011 in partnership with the SouthCoast Community Foundation to bring about positive change and create a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals and communities in need by providing financial support to the local community through grants that enrich programs and services provided by organizations that serve low- and moderate-income households.
“BankFive always demonstrates a steadfast commitment to investing in the communities it serves,” said Melanie Edwards-Tavares, SouthCoast Community Foundation President. “We are grateful for BankFive's partnership and dedication to philanthropy, which continues to make a significant difference to the lives of community members in need.”
