Tangen, also a member of the American Bankers Association (ABA) Board of Directors, was one of 14 banking leaders from across the country invited to participate in the April 24th event. Tangen shared timely and insightful perspectives on the importance of financial literacy and the ways in which BankFive is working to ensure every member of the communities it serves has the opportunity to become financially empowered.
“I’m incredibly grateful to have been invited by Secretary Bessent and the Treasury team to join this Financial Month Literacy Roundtable alongside outstanding banking leaders from across the country,” said Tangen. “Financial literacy education can be particularly powerful to build financial confidence and expand economic opportunities for everyone. I’m proud to lead a community bank that values delivering effective and affordable financial literacy tools to all its customers in Rhode Island and Massachusetts."
Last year, BankFive expanded its financial literacy efforts with the launch of Five SENSE. The financial learning program is tailored to meet individuals where they are on their unique financial journeys, and offers educational resources, workshops, and customized banking products to ensure each customer achieves financial security.
As the U.S. Treasury considers updates to its national strategies for financial literacy, Tangen was grateful for the opportunity to offer a community bank’s perspective alongside other national banking leaders.
