
Anne Tangen
President & Chief Executive Officer
Anne joined BankFive in 2020 and has become a leading voice in shaping the future of community banking. In addition to driving BankFive’s strategic investments in technology, infrastructure, and employee development, Anne plays an active role on influential boards and advisory councils that guide policy and advocate for community banks nationwide. She serves on the American Bankers Association Board of Directors, is Chair of the Massachusetts Bankers Association Board of Directors, and represents District 1 on the Federal Reserve's Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council (CDIAC).
Anne has more than four decades of experience in the financial services industry, and has consistently demonstrated vision and leadership. She began her career at Fidelity Investments, spending 14 years in various leadership roles before moving to State Street, where she launched a new wealth management business. As Executive Vice President at State Street, Anne had responsibility for the global wealth management division, helping generate $90MM in annual revenues supporting $150B in assets. After 15 years at State Street, Anne served on the board of BayCoast Bank and as Chief Operating Officer at The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod.
A graduate of the University of Vermont with a BA in Economics, Anne is deeply committed to community engagement. She founded the Alden Pettengill Foundation and serves on the boards of Argosy Collegiate Charter School, the SouthCoast Community Foundation, the Southcoast Health President’s Council, and the Savings Banks Employees Retirement Association (SBERA). Her leadership extends beyond banking, reflecting her dedication to education, health, and philanthropy.
Anne’s contributions to the industry have earned her numerous honors, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Massachusetts Bankers Association and the Sandra J. Pattie Award from the New England Women in Banking & Mortgage. Under her leadership, BankFive has been recognized as a “Top Women-Led Business” by the Women's Edge and the Boston Globe, and a “Top Charitable Contributor” by the Boston Business Journal. Anne is frequently featured in leading publications such as the Boston Business Journal, Banker & Tradesman, American Bankers Association, Bank Director, and Bloomberg Radio Boston, and regularly speaks at industry conferences, including the New England Bankers Annual Conference, Future Branches, and Bank Director.
